Responding is a person physical visiting a site following an alarm activation or instruction to attend.

Patrolling and responding both involve checking a premise to ensure that it is secure. This is mainly during times of inactivity and non-occupation and often at night time.

The patrol is designed to occur randomly and at a set number of times during night-time or daytime as instructed. The random nature of this mobile patrol reduces the possibility of the patrolling guard being timed by anyone aiming to invade the site.
